James
James
Stovall
Executive Director

James holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Radford University and has been a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator since 2010. With a track record of operating skilled nursing facilities in Virginia and North Carolina, as well as launching a standalone memory care unit, he's committed to cultivating tight-knit team cultures and engaging resident experiences. Since joining the Hermitage Roanoke team in 2019, James has instilled a renewed emphasis on regulatory compliance while ensuring resident-centered decision-making. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing guitar, and watching college football. 

Amanda
Long
Director of Nursing

Amanda joined Hermitage Roanoke in 2021, marking the latest chapter in her nursing career that began in 2014. With over ten years predominantly dedicated to long-term care, Amanda's passion for geriatrics blossomed as she became part of each resident’s family, striving to make every day their best as their advocate. In 2020, Amanda earned her stroke certifications through Carilion, enhancing her ability to provide specialized care. Over the past four years, she has assumed management roles, helping maintain high professional standards and ensuring quality care. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her three sons and playing sports mom on the sidelines of all their games.

Kristen
Testerman
Business Office Director

Kristen brings over 13 years of healthcare experience to her role. A graduate of Hudson Valley College in Troy, NY, Kristen is dedicated to ensuring operational excellence and resident satisfaction. With a remarkable track record of zero deficiencies in her eight-year career in this role, she’s committed to upholding the highest quality and compliance standards. She is also actively involved in community initiatives such as the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Committee. Kristen fosters an environment of trust and collaboration. She believes in promoting a sense of ownership and accountability toward the common goal of serving residents with excellence. Her overarching goals include maintaining low turnover rates, achieving deficiency-free surveys and positioning our organization as the top employer in senior living.

Barry
Perkins
Maintenance Engineering and Support Services Director

Barry brings over 28 years of experience in grounds and maintenance to his role. His journey began in Durango, Colorado, where he served as a maintenance tech for the county government before advancing to the position of field & grounds assistant director. Throughout his career, Barry has overseen maintenance departments in various sectors, including hospitality schools, and has spent the last seven years at Hermitage Roanoke. He takes pride at having started from the ground up in the maintenance field and working his way to the directorship of the department.

Mary
Craddock
Social Worker

Mary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from Radford University and a Master's in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. With 23 years of experience as a social worker, Mary's journey began in hospital settings before transitioning to home health. She then focused on foster care and adoptions before taking time off to raise her three daughters. Upon reentering the workforce, she spent five years in the mental health field as a QMHP with adults. In 2012, Mary joined Hermitage as the Director of Social Services, where she immediately felt a deep connection. She's dedicated to ensuring each resident feels loved and seen every day, serving as a strong advocate for them. Married for 33 years, Mary enjoys time outdoors hiking, fishing and kayaking. She also likes baking, grilling, and cherishing moments with her two grandbabies.

Patti
Beckley
Sales and Marketing Director

Patti boasts over 25 years of senior living experience. Born and raised in Western New York, she spent ten years in Colorado working as a real estate appraiser before returning home to care for her parents. Transitioning to healthcare in 1999, she began as a business office manager in assisted living, later becoming an executive director for nine years. Moving to Virginia 13 years ago, Patti served as a regional director of sales and marketing for a senior living organization covering Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. In 2018, she became a regional director for a home care agency before joining Hermitage Roanoke. She cherishes the Hermitage culture of kindness, comfort and dignity and takes pride in educating seniors on the continued resources in the Roanoke area. Patti lives in Salem with her husband, son Noah and dog Daisy. She enjoys reading, family time and the beach. She's also a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan. Go Bills!

Sam
Swanberg
Lifestyles and Wellness Director

Sam became a valued member of the Hermitage Roanoke team in July 2018. Armed with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a minor in studio art from James Madison University, Sam entered the healthcare field in 2014 through an Art Through Memory Enhancement class, where she spent one-on-one time with an artist living with dementia at a retirement community. Sam enjoys providing residents opportunities to explore new experiences and bringing joy to people's lives. She embraces a collaborative management style, valuing input from both team members and residents in programming decisions. In her leisure time, Sam enjoys hiking, volleyball and art. She also likes visiting new places and cherishing moments with her family.
